Workshop on Solar for Public and Affordable Housing

Through the Sustainable Solar Education Project, CESA conducted a full-day, in-person workshop on deploying solar for public and affordable housing.The workshop was held in conjunction with the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) 2017 Annual Conference on October 14th-17th in Denver, CO.

The workshop examined the challenges providers face in deploying solar for public and affordable housing and will highlight strategies and ideas for state housing agencies and other public agencies to overcome these challenges. Participants engaged with leading experts from across the country in discussions on the U.S. solar market, how solar can benefit affordable housing providers and tenants, solar project financing strategies, and how adding battery storage to solar projects can reduce lifecycle costs and provide resiliency benefits.

Workshop attendees: We ask that you please fill out a post-workshop evaluation form. We will conduct at least one additional all-day, in-person Sustainable Solar Education Project workshop, and your feedback will help us refine the structure and content of future trainings. Please complete this form by Friday, November 3. Travel reimbursement for attendees is contingent upon submission of an evaluation form

This workshop was conducted through CESA’s Sustainable Solar Education Project, which provides information and educational resources to state and municipal officials on strategies to ensure distributed solar electricity remains consumer friendly and accessible for LMI households. The Sustainable Solar Education Project is managed by CESA and is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative’s Solar Training and Education for Professionals program.
