State Leadership in Clean Energy: Award-Winning Programs in California and New York
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 @ 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
This webinar highlighted two winning programs from CESA’s 2016 State Leadership in Clean Energy Awards: The California Energy Commission’s New Solar Homes Partnership, and NYSERDA’s NY-Sun.
California’s New Solar Homes Partnership is helping to make new homes in California environmentally friendly, while reducing energy bills. The program provides financial incentives and other support to builders, developers, and homeowners to encourage the construction of new, energy-efficient solar homes. It has already helped boost the new home solar penetration rate in the state from less than 1 percent to more than 20 percent.
NY-Sun is a comprehensive initiative that is driving New York’s solar industry and building momentum toward a sustainable, subsidy-free market by 2023. Through soft cost reduction, customer aggregation, targeted financing, and training for stakeholders, NY-Sun is working to make the solar industry more robust, independent, and successful. Over the last two years, New York has seen a dramatic uptake in solar capacity, while achieving a reduction in costs.
In two very different ways, each of these innovative and comprehensive programs are transforming the solar market in their state. Guest speakers from the California Energy Commission and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) presented.
Guest Speakers:
- Joe Omoletski, NSHP Program Specialist, California Energy Commission
- Elizabeth Hutchison, NSHP Program Lead, California Energy Commission
- Lisabeth Tremblay, Assistant Project Manager, NYSERDA
- Luke Forster, Assistant Project Manager, NYSERDA
This webinar was moderated by CESA Executive Director Warren Leon. The presentations were followed by a Q&A with the audience.
