Wednesday, February 12, 2020 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
With 5.2 megawatts of solar and 12.6 megawatt-hours of battery storage, a new 600-unit housing development in Herriman, Utah, about 25 miles south of Salt Lake City, is being developed as the largest solar virtual power plant in the country. The innovative, net-zero development, Soleil Lofts, will be completed electrified, include EV charging ports for 150 vehicles, solar on every roof, and sonnen home battery systems in every apartment.
The project was made possible through a unique partnership between the local utility, Rocky Mountain Power; the real estate developer, Wasatch Group; and technology providers, sonnen and Auric Solar. In addition to providing backup power and energy resilience to residents, Rocky Mountain Power will use the batteries as a demand response resources and to deliver additional grid benefits. Residents are expected to begin moving in at the end of this summer.
