Renewable Thermal Technologies in the Massachusetts APS
Wednesday, January 24, 2018 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
In response to 2014 legislation, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) developed and is implementing rules and regulations that will enable renewable thermal technologies to participate in the state’s Alternative Portfolio Standard (APS). Qualifying facilities include those that generate “useful thermal energy using sunlight, biomass, bio-gas, liquid bio-fuel or naturally occurring temperature differences in ground, air or water.”
In this webinar, Samantha Meserve, Renewable Thermal Program Coordinator at DOER, described how the program will work, including how generators will qualify and how thermal output will be converted into Alternative Energy Certificates (AECs). She explained the treatment of different technologies and different size systems. Her presentation was followed by a Q&A with the audience.
