Partnering to Reduce Energy Burden: A Michigan Community Solar and Weatherization Pilot

Low-income households in Michigan spend an average of 15 percent of their income on energy costs, which is classified as a severe energy burden. A new case study by the Clean Energy States Alliance highlights the collaborative effort between Michigan’s energy office, local community action agencies, and utilities to develop three separate pilot programs. The case study, Partnering to Reduce Energy Burden: A Michigan Community Solar and Weatherization Pilot, profiles EGLE’s efforts and highlights lessons learned. Michigan’s work can serve as a model for other state agencies, community partners, and utilities seeking to maximize the impact of existing weatherization programs.
