New England Marine Renewable Energy Center’s Technical Conference

With 40 presentations in two days, the 3rd Annual New England Marine Renewable Energy Center’s Technical Conference will offer many interesting sessions devoted to offshore wind, environment studies for ocean energy devices, tidal systems, modeling, commercialization issues and wave energy devices. In addition to the excellent technical papers that will be presented, there are over 10 relevant posters that will be on display right outside the seminar space during the entire two days. The topics and their authors are available as well at the link above.
Keynote addresses will be given by experts who will discuss the status of the ocean energy industry. Peter Fraenkel,Chief Technology Officer of Marine Current Turbines will provide his insights about where the ocean energy industry is today, why it is that way and what can be done to accelerate the industry. Hans-Joachim Stietzel, Director of Cuxhaven Harbor Development Company, will share his perspective on how coastal regions in Germany have benefited from offshore wind energy. Mark Sinclair, of Clean Energy Group/Clean Energy States Alliance will talk about his effort to link ocean energy states and organizations to leverage their resources to bring energy from oceans and rivers. Patrick Cloney, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center will talk about his work to foster clean tech and clean energy companies and research organizations in Massachusetts to compete in the renewable energy race.
