Hydropower and Renewable Portfolio Standards
Tuesday, February 2, 2016 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
This webinar, presented by CESA’s State-Federal RPS Collaborative, explores the role and treatment of hydropower in RPSs across the country. Specifically, it provides an overview of hydropower technologies, growth potential, and the opportunities for this renewable energy resource to provide additional value to RPSs in the future.
David Zayas from the National Hydropower Association presented on the current state of hydropower in RPSs, as well as growth opportunities across the industry, including efficiency improvements and new development. Dana Hall from the Low Impact Hydropower Institute explained its independent Certification Program, which has been incorporated into some state RPSs and voluntary markets. Tim Welch from the US Department of Energy’s Hydropower Vision discussed that initiative, which will lay out the building blocks for a new era of sustainable hydropower growth over the next half century. These presentations were followed by a Q&A with the audience.
The webinar was hosted by CESA Executive Director Warren Leon.
