Hydrogen and Fuel Cells for Resiliency: Fuel Cells for Telecom (Renewable H2)
Thursday, March 17, 2016 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Fuel cell power systems are emerging as an alternative power supply technology for telecom companies to avoid prolonged power outages and disruption of service to customers. Backup power solutions using fuel cell system technologies offer improved network reliability, increased environmental performance, and cost effective operation over incumbent technology. Today, more than 3,000 fuel cell systems have been installed at cellular telecommunication facilities owned by Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and others. These companies have selected fuel cell systems to power their facilities for a variety of reasons including longer runtime; quiet operation; easy, lightweight installation for rooftops; and use of alternative and renewable fuels.
This presentation provides information about how fuel cells have become a significant part of their company’s mission to reduce environmental impact and dependence on fossil fuels while ensuring continuity of service for their customers. Guest speakers also discussed commercially available fuel cell technologies and their operational characteristics to ensure resiliency.
Guest Speakers:
- Corinne Vita, Sales Director, Major Accounts, Altergy
- Thomas Browning, Sr. Manager, Engineering Field, T-Mobile
