Exploring the Outcomes of New Grid Projects on the Power System: PNNL’s GridPIQ Tool
Thursday, January 31, 2019 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET
Insight about how grid technology performs can be tough to get quickly. Results – like cost and energy savings, peak shaving, ramping requirements, and fossil fuel usage – depend heavily on usage, energy mix, geography, and consumer behavior.
GridPIQ, a screening tool from the U.S. Department of Energy and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), helps users approximate the impact of adding a grid project, whether in the form of a technology or a new policy, to an existing system.
On this webinar, Karen Studarus, the tool developer from PNNL, provided an overview of GridPIQ and stepped through some use cases to demonstrate how GridPIQ can provide a first-pass assessment as you evaluate technology and policy options. Karen and her team are also interested in hearing your feedback on the tool as well as your input into what you wish it could do in the future!
Presenter: Karen Studarus, Power Systems Engineer, PNNL
Host: Nate Hausman, Project Director, CESA
This webinar was presented by the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) as part of CESA’s Multistate Initiative to Develop Solar in Locations that Provide Benefits to the Grid.
