ESTAP Webinar: DOE OE Energy Storage Safety Strategic Plan
Wednesday, January 14, 2015 @ 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Validation of safety is a necessity in the ever-changing grid energy storage landscape as it is needed to inspire consumer, regulator and insurer confidence. Accordingly, approaches to validate safety and prepare for unanticipated failures must be both developed and codified in the codes, standards, and regulations. To highlight these challenges DOE OE has released the “Energy Storage Safety Strategic Plan.” This document identifies three key challenge areas within the area of safety: validation techniques, incident preparedness, and safety documentation.
In this webinar, DOE OE Program Manager Dr. Imre Gyuk led a discussion of the strategic plan with Sean Hearne of Sandia National Labs, Kenneth Willette of the National Fire Protection Association, and Vincent Sprenkle of the Pacific Northwestern National Laboratory. This webinar was hosted by ESTAP Project Director Todd Olinsky-Paul.
This webinar was a presentation of the Energy Storage Technology Advancement Partnership (ESTAP). ESTAP is managed by the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) with support from the US Department of Energy Office of Electricity and Sandia National Labs.
