Energizing Cleveland with Offshore Wind: An Update on the Icebreaker Project
Wednesday, May 4, 2016 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
This webinar, presented by the Northeast Wind Resource Center (NWRC), features a presentation on the Icebreaker project — a demonstration-scale offshore wind project in Lake Erie. The 20 MW project is the first proposed fresh-water offshore wind project in the US; it has received three US Department of Energy grants to move the project forward and to optimize turbine foundation design for US fabrication. In late 2014, Norwegian wind developer Fred. Olsen Windcarrier joined the LEEDCo team as installation partner. Recently, Cleveland lawmakers authorized Cleveland Public Power to negotiate power contracts with Fred. Olsen Renewables USA who will be purchasing and developing the wind farm. Learn more about the project, its vision, and timeline on this exciting webinar. Presentations were followed by a Q&A with the audience.
