Developing non-Lithium Ion Energy Storage Technologies to Support California’s Clean Energy Goals
Thursday, September 24, 2020 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
In this webinar, Mike Gravely from the California Energy Commission (CEC) discussed the CEC’s “beyond batteries” solicitations. The CEC is evaluating, supporting, and demonstrating the performance of non-Li+ storage technologies to help meet state clean energy goals. Its programs focus on customer-side of the meter applications, green hydrogen storage for customer-side applications, long-duration storage, and on low-income and disadvantaged communities applications. Over $100 million in EPIC and cost-share investments in over 20 grants in 2020 will contribute to the 45+ microgrid deployments with energy storage that are increasing resiliency, driving down costs, and establishing lessons learned and best practices to help California meet its future clean energy goals.
