Clean Energy Group Webinar: An Introduction to Resilient Power

Clean Energy Group (CEG) hosted a free webinar in conjunction with a recently released report from CEG’s Resilient Power Project, “Resilient Power: Evolution of a New Clean Energy Strategy to Meet Severe Weather Threats.” This webinar provided an overview of CEG’s resilient power efforts over the past decade, from the New York City blackouts to Superstorm Sandy. It also described its new project to accelerate the use resilient clean energy technologies like solar and battery storage to better protect vulnerable populations in the event of power outages—events more common with recent severe weather.

Lew Milford and Todd Olinsky-Paul of Clean Energy Group presented an overview of the Resilient Power Project’s goals and activities to assist communities develop resilient power installations; and CEG Senior Finance Director, Rob Sanders, highlighted some of the finance tools that communities could use to invest in resilient power solutions.

The webinar outlined the dangers that power outages can pose to low-income communities and vulnerable populations, the weaknesses of traditional backup power sources, and the opportunities for communities to create more power resilient critical facilities with clean and dependable energy technologies. This webinar will be of interest to anyone concerned with the power-related impacts from severe weather.
