The Washington State Department of Commerce has released its Phase 1 Solicitation for their $13 million Smart Grid/ Grid Modernization Initiative. This Initiative awards matching funding grants to electric utilities to advance clean and renewable energy technologies and transmission and distribution control system improvements. Projects will enable integration of distributed and renewable resources and technology and increase reliability and resiliency. The Phase 2 Solicitation opens March 1 with refined project proposals due April 22, and awards to be announced May 20. Read more about the grants here.
