Offshore Wind Accelerator

In 2023, CESA convened and led an Offshore Wind Road-Mapping Workshop between 30 policymakers on both sides of the Atlantic, including six states and seven European nations, as well as the US Department of Energy, European Commission Directorate-General for Energy, and the European Union.

While offshore wind in the United States is relatively new, the industry has thrived in Europe over the last decade. CESA’s Offshore Wind Learning Exchange provides a platform for policymakers to learn from one another and work together collaboratively on issues of shared interest. Through the project, CESA:

➔ Convenes US state and European policymakers to build relationships, share knowledge and promote collaboration in offshore wind across the Atlantic, and to find and connect with experts in government, industry, and academic institutions.

➔ Informs US state and European policymakers about the latest developments in offshore wind on both continents.

Maryland Works for Wind (MWW), run by the Maryland Department of Labor, is a regional consortium committed to establishing Maryland as the country’s premier destination for offshore wind training, fabrication, and employment. As a member of the project, CESA:

➔ Convenes mid-Atlantic states to share knowledge, experience, best practices, and lessons learned around workforce development in offshore wind.

➔ Informs states of the latest developments in offshore wind workforce programs.

The Offshore Wind Power Hub tracks offshore wind policies, projects, and lease areas in the United States, and provides a platform for advocates and policymakers to collaborate and share resources. The Power Hub is managed by the Clean Energy States Alliance with participation from the National Wildlife Federation.

In addition to the publicly available interactive map, the Offshore Wind Power Hub also includes an interactive forum and a resource library, available exclusively to offshore wind advocates and state and federal government employees. These sections of the Offshore Wind Power Hub provide a platform for advocates and policymakers to collaborate and share resources. Eligible users can request to join the Power Hub to access the restricted sections of the website.
