Northeast Wind Resource Center
Project Menu
The Northeast Wind Resource Center (NWRC) provided salient, unbiased information on offshore and land-based wind energy in the Northeastern United States. The NWRC served the information needs of New England and New York for land-based wind, and that same region plus New Jersey in the case of offshore wind.
The Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) managed the NWRC. From 2014 to mid-2018, the U.S. Department of Energy provided partial funding for the NWRC. During that time, Clean Energy Group and CESA led the work on offshore wind. Sustainable Energy Advantage, LLC (SEA) assisted with land-based wind work, and the Maine Ocean and Wind Industry Initiative (MOWII) served as key liaison between the project and the wind industry.
Offshore Wind
Among the NWRC’s activities related to offshore wind was the dissemination of materials produced for A Roadmap for Multi-State Cooperation on Offshore Wind Development. Those materials included three reports:
- Northeast Offshore Wind Regional Market Characterization
- US Job Creation in Offshore Wind
- US Jones Act Compliant Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessel Study
Land-Based Wind
Among the NWRC’s activities related to land-based wind was a monthly newsletter with news related to land-based wind in the region, a toolkit for local governments (Distributed Wind Energy Zoning and Permitting) and summaries of the following technical publications:
